As has been the case for many years, the mid-summer luncheon membership meeting of the Fresh Produce & Floral Council, held Aug. 7 in Cerritos, CA, was devoted to raising funds for the City of Hope, a Southern California cancer and research hospital.
The local food industry adopted the innovative program as its charity of choice in 1973, and has raised
more than $100 million for the hospital in the last 32 years. Fundraising is divided into the various segments of the supermarket,
with the FPFC and its members very active in the Produce
& Floral Circle.
Kitayama Brothers was a proud sponsor
donating locally
grown flowers to grace the tables of this great
event. Mini gerbera daisies, lisianthus and hydrangeas made up the simple
but fun centerpieces.
